Halloween Fright Night

The number one thing that I love about Halloween is Movie Night. After we are done with trick-or-treating we would pull out the sleeper sofa in the living room and pile all the children on it. I would be in the kitchen making popcorn and other holiday treats. The children would dump their pumpkin buckets out on the bed and begin sorting through their cherished candy, trading as they go.

After all the snacks are ready we would turn out the lights, get all comfy with dozens of pillows on the bed, and my husband will turn on the movie. Usually I am stuck on the bed in the midst of all the children, with them burying their heads into my shoulder when a scary part comes up. Then, one by one the kids start nodding off. Thank goodness! My husband and I can start going through their candy now. Yeah!

In case you are preparing for a night of fright, the Halloween Gift Box is a great way to go. Filled with popcorn, pretzels, candy and other munchies it is sure to make your night of fright a Halloween night of fun

Picking out a Costume

When I was growing up I never could make up my mind what to be for Halloween. I knew what I wanted for Christmas long before it became time, but with Halloween it always came down to the wire. I remember one year I guess I waited to long to tell my mom what I wanted to be and the store had run out of the particular costume I wanted. So I started sobbing and crying like most kids do and my mom told me to keep my chin up, so I dried up my tears and went off to bed.

When I awoke the next morning I found my mom in the kitchen working on something. Turns out she got an idea for a costume for my and she had been working on it since early morning. Mom had taken some of my old play clothes and cut holes in them, then she brought them outside put dirt and grass stains on them. That night before going out to trick or treat she put this liquid on my face, hands, and arms, it kind of reminded me of white glue, then I put my costume on at first I was skeptical. But after about twenty minutes the stuff that mom had put on my body started to peal and it looked like my skin was coming off and I was an official zombie. I grabbed my candy bucket and was on my way.

I’ve had a lot of costumes since then and in fact I’ve made my own children a few over the years but none as memorable as that one. So this Halloween get your ghosts and goblins together get them there Halloween Candy Buckets from the Gift Basket Pros., and see how many treats you can collect.

Halloween Gift from the Road

A child gets a package, wonders what is inside. He opens it, and notices it is a coffin. What could it be? Is there a skeleton inside, or maybe mommy and daddy are trying to play a trick on me.

So, the child very cautiously opens the coffin. There are bite-sized cookies, different kinds of brownie bites, and a frosted sugar cookie. The child squeals with joy. Mommy comes running in frantic and wonders what is going on. Then, she stops with a smile on her face. Daddy had sent their little munchkin a Cookie Coffin Gift Box.

Brownie Lover on Halloween

A friend of mine had decided to make brownies when she was invited to a pot-luck party one year. She is not a good cook and just to be on the safe side she followed the recipe exactly, or so she thought. All of our friends were there with their special dishes, having fun and dancing.
At that moment, someone had grabbed one of her “delicious” brownies and took a giant bite out of it. The next thing everyone knew she was running for a glass of punch. It turns out my friend had accidentally forgot to put in the sugar, so you can imagine how that turned out.
I love brownies, and so does my friend, so I had told her about the Halloween Brownies Gift Box from Pro-gift-baskets.com. She tried them out and told me that next time she goes to a pot-luck party; she is going to try to obtain a box

Halloween Enjoyment

When my brother, sister, and I were very young, we lived in a small neighborhood in Louisiana . My dad was working nights and my mom was working days. She would be so tired when she got home from work, but she always tried to make Halloween special for us.

I remember one year, my brother was maybe three years old, we wanted to go trick-or-treating. My sister wasn’t old enough to take us by herself, so good old mom decided to do something a little different. We got all dressed up in our costumes and went walking around our house then went to the front door and mom would be there all dressed up as a witch and then we would walk around the house again, go back to the front door and there she was as a mummy( wrapped up in toilet paper). We kept doing this until all the candy ran out. That was a very unique Halloween for us.

If you are looking for something to make Halloween unique for someone in your life have a look at our Halloween Fortune Cookie Baskets. The best part about this particular item is that you can use the plush Halloween themed basket year after year as a decoration around the house

Treats for the Office

At my last job, I made a lot of good friends, some of them I miss dearly. We had a good time together and it was almost like they were family to me. I was only there a year when my husband and I decided to move and I’ve been thinking of what to send these great people.
So I went looking around. I finally found something which caught my interest, the Mrs. Fields Fall Harvest Gift Basket. It had everything I was looking for, cookies, brownies, mini chocolate cakes, and it was package so attractively. With this upcoming holiday it was the perfect gift, and the best advantage to getting this gift is that it gives everyone that I miss the chance to have a little taste.

Pumpkin Carving

My children love it when we go and pick out the biggest pumpkin. We also get four smaller ones so that the children can each have their own. Then we go home, I spread newspaper on the floor in the kitchen and let the kids draw faces on their individual pumpkins.
My husband carves out the tops of the pumpkins and tells the children to dig out the “brains”. Our children love this part because they are able to get all slimy and gooey. After that, when the pumpkins are all empty, the faces get to be carved. Finally, we are able to put candles in the pumpkins and set them out on the porch to let all the neighbors see how creative our children are.
So, if you are feeling imaginative or if you know someone who is artistic we have a Halloween Gift Basket filled with all sorts of items. Like a pumpkin carving set, a flashlight, and besides if they get hungry the basket is also filled with yummy treats that they can nibble on

Halloween Pretzels

The first time I have ever had a chocolate covered pretzel, was when my mother made them in our kitchen. That first taste was just pure heaven. We would stay up playing cards and snacking on these delicious treats. Sweet and salty, the perfect combination for any late night snack.

Like all normal children, my brother, sister and I would fight over them. I would always count them out while we divided them up, one for you, one for you, two for me…..and so on. My sister would get on to me because of course she is older and knows better than that. We still laugh about those times.

At Pro-gift-baskets.com we have our Caramel & Chocolate Halloween Pretzels that would be a great gift for anyone. They are dipped in the finest chocolate, and one that I can’t wait to try, the rich creamy caramel. They are then adorned with Halloween candy sprinkles, to give it that special holiday distinctiveness.

Haunted Houses

During Halloween, my family likes to get together and put on a haunted house for the neighborhood children. There would be a fog machine and a spooky music recording. One year we dressed up as the Addams Family, my sister was Cousin It, brother was Pugsley, mom was Morticia, and dad was Gomez, and I was Wednesday. One of my dad’s buddies from work came over dressed as Uncle Fester.

After we were done terrorizing the kids, we always had a little party in the backyard (transformed into a haunted graveyard). We would have cookies, cakes, candy, popcorn balls all laid out on the tables, and ghost and spiders hanging from the trees. The games were great. Bobbing for Jack-O-Lanterns, musical chairs (had to have the monster mash), and pin the wart on the witch. Those were so much fun, and the children couldn’t wait until next year’s.

If you are having a lot of company this year, or if you have something planned somewhere else we have so many choices to choose from at Pro-gift-baskets.com. Here are just a few to take a look at, the Halloween Pumpkin Gift Tower, Mrs. Fields® Halloween Scarecrow, and Haunting Halloween Gift Box. These are sure to make somebody's Halloween extraordinary.

Halloween Gifts

Growing up in a little town was great. My siblings and I would dress up in our costumes and go house to house and collect all the candy that we could get our hands on. Then, we would go home and count them all out to see who had the most. I remember we use to trade and make deals with the candy. Sometimes we would even play games and the winner would take all the candy, but in the end share with each other.

Now, of course, we are grown up and don’t see each other as often. I always try and send them a little something in the mail. Just to let them know that I am thinking of them at this time of year.

At Pro-gift-baskets.com we have a wide selection of Halloween gifts, like the Halloween Candy Boo Bag, or the Mrs. Fields® Halloween Bear Basket. The stuffed animals that come with these gifts are so adorable. They will also make sure that the recipient, be it a child, grandchild, friend, or co-worker, will remember you and all the times that you have shared. The yummy treats inside won’t hurt either.

Halloween Cookie Jars

My grandmother loves to collect things, and I mean a lot of things. One type of these many items is cookie jars, specifically holiday cookie jars. She had about four Thanksgiving, nine Christmas, three Easter, and one or two Halloween cookie jars. She was so proud of these jars, that she had my grandfather make a custom shelf in her dining room to display these treasured objects.

Every holiday my mom and dad would pack up my brother, sister, and me and go over to grandma’s house. When we arrived there, depending on the holiday, she would have one of these cookie jars on the counter filled to the top with cookies for her grandchildren. We would always sit around the table in her kitchen and snack on cookies and milk while she asked us about our trip.

That is one of my favorite memories growing up. Every time I see a cookie jar I think of my grandparents, and the fun we had. So, why not make some of your own loving memories, Mrs. Fields® Haunted House Cookie Jar, Mrs. Fields® Haunted Ghost Cookie Jar, and the Mrs. Fields® Autumn Cookie Jar. I am sure that your children or grandchildren will cherish the memories, as I have with my grandparents

One thing I like about this time of year is all the parties. Whether we are talking about school parties, work parties, or a church function there will be plenty of goodies to go around. So, why not make sure everyone gets a little something that they can savor. Mrs. Beasley’s Pumpkin Tower has a little bit of everything from cookies to the traditional Halloween candy corn. It will bring a blood curling scream (of delight), from all of the vampires and witches.

The Giant Spooky Cookies

When I was younger Halloween was one of my favorite times of year. You could be anything you wanted, and the most exciting part for any youngster is all the candy, cookies, and popcorn balls they will receive. The treat I remember the most is the giant cookies that my mom use to make. Here at Pro-Gift-Baskets.com we carry two different types of giant cookies the Giant Halloween Fortune Cookies and the Halloween Pumpkin Cookie Gift. Both of which will satisfy any sweet tooth and give your kids lasting memories for years to come.

Trick or Treating

Trick or treating is a custom that has been passed down through the centuries. It was started as a way to keep evil spirits at bay. Over the years the tradition has evolved and become more mainstreamed.

During the ninth century people during droughts and times of disease out break, people would wear masks over their mouths. They believed that doing this would scare off evil spirits. During this time there was another tradition in which beggars would go from house to house and get soul cakes or money, for every soul cake received they would pray for the dead.

In today’s society millions of children go out to collect their treats and of course some go out to do their tricks. In the traditions of the past, Pro-Gift-Baskets.com has a great variety of Halloween goodies to take care of your ghouls or goblins. So, take pleasure in this upcoming holiday with a Happy Halloween Gift Box. It is sure to be treasured, at least until the candy is gone!

Fishing-The Honored Past Time

I still remember the first time I ever went fishing with my own fishing pole. It was one of those Snoopy rod and reels; I received it on my sixth birthday. We went to a little fishing hole in California, on the Air Force base we lived on. My dad, brother, and I set up on the bank.I was the first person to catch a fish, out of all the fishing trips that I have had since then this was the best.

It has been 24 years since that trip now I have kids of my own. Most of them enjoy fishing with me and hearing the stories of fishing trips of the past. I know that I enjoy it when I receive gifts of the fishing nature, especially when they are funny. We have a great one for you the Fisherman's Gift Basket.

A Great Reason for Gift Giving

I am a man that is gifted with children, five to be exact; they are the best thing to ever happen to me. Sometimes though I'm afraid that between the kids, I tend to drive my wife to the deep end. Don’t get me wrong my wife has the patience of a saint, but with the amount of people in our home, it can push anyone to the limit. I remember my own mother having days like this. My dad would go out and get things for a picnic such as different types of cheese, cold cuts, sweets, and a good bottle of wine. This gave them a good chance to go out and unwind and offered a setting for the two of them to reconnect.

In my time with my family I have learned to give my wife her time to unwind, but also sending her surprise gifts such as wine gift baskets full of delicious goodies always brings us closer together. When she receives special gifts from me like this she knows that she is always on my mind. Giving gifts just for no reason at all are the types of occasions that create memories you can always cherish.

Cornucopia- The Horn of Plenty

Greek mythology states that the Cornucopia was given to Amalthea, a foster mother to Zeus, by Zeus. She was given this gift because she gave him goat’s milk while she was raising him. In gratitude for her kindness, Zeus broke off a goat horn filling it with fruits and flowers claiming that great abundance would be given to her.

The Cornucopia has been a symbol of good harvests since the time of the Greeks. For societies that can only survive with a good harvest, such as the Pilgrims in the US, the Cornucopia was a ray of hope. This is why we use the cornucopia at our Thanksgiving holidays and other festivals that have to do with harvests. Giving the gift of a Fruit and Nut Cornucopia basket to friends and family will bring good tidings and prosperity for the next year.

The Candy Apple

The first signs of candy apples that we are accustomed to in present time were made in the early 20th century. The delightful sugary fruit combo was first mentioned in the “BEF Time” Christmas of 1917. The coloring and delicious taste made it one of the best Fall Fair foods of all time. The Great Pumpkin

The pumpkin has been a long standing tradition during the month of October in modern America for centuries. The concept of carving a Jack O'Lantern during Halloween came about due to an Irish myth about a man named "Stingy Jack." The story revolves around Jack tricking the Devil multiple times due to his mischievous nature. Once Jack finally died, he was not allowed in to heaven because of his mean nature. He was also not allowed into Hell because of an agreement between him and the Devil. Instead, Jack was sent into the night with just a burning coal to light his way. Jack carved a turnip and placed the coal inside and the legend is that he has roamed the earth ever since. The Irish soon referred to this ghoulish figure as "Jack of the Lantern", which eventually became what we know today as "Jack O'Lantern."

Older versions of the Jack O'Lantern were made of turnips and potatoes, where scary faces would be carved into them and placed in windows to scare Jack and other ghostly spirits away. Eventually, immigrants from Ireland and Scotland brought the Jack O'Lantern tradition with them to the United States and found that the pumpkin actually made the perfect carving surface.

As youngsters prepare for an evening of tricks and treats for Halloween, pumpkins will certainly be at the top of every one's list to complete their front yard decorations. As pumpkins will be lit up everywhere, The Gift Basket Pros also want to suggest sending a pumpkin full of yummy delicious candy to those ghosts and goblins that you won't be able to be with during this spooky time. A Halloween Gift Basket may not be as magical and decorative as a real pumpkin, but it certainly earns points for not being as messy! Happy Halloween to all!

Fresh Fruit Gift Ideas

It’s hard to imagine, but it is believed that the apple was grown and eaten by cave dwellers during the Neolithic time. Today, there are more than 7,000 different types of apples grown world wide with the most popular apple being the Red Delicious apple. A faithful companion to the apple is the pear, which is believed to have been consumed by the Stone Age people as food. In today’s society there are over 3,000 varieties of pears grown across the world!

You might be asking, why the history lesson? The reason is fresh fruits such as apples, pears, peaches, and oranges, among many others, have been around for extremely long times and today are still as delicious and full of flavor as they used to be. Sending fruit gift baskets exemplifies your thoughtfulness for the recipient’s special occasion and also demonstrates your exceptional taste.
